I grabbed his arm in one hand to keep him in my grasp and used the other knife held hand against his throat, my long hair covered most of my face in an attempt of subtle camouflage. I grunted in annoyance when I found that he was unexpectedly taller than me. Peering at my captures profile, his face remained passive but his eyes glinted with a hint of fear, but it wasn't enough for him to flee. Stupid. Stubborn. Human. I groaned loud in annoyance. With a single shove towards the edge of the forest, I croaked,
'Leave.' He didn't even blink. Bloody hell. Standing tall, I crossed my arms, 'leave. Now.' I practically yelled. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, this kid, actually grinned and copied my stance, his arrogance followed by one single word.'No.' Gah! Two could play this game. 'Fine, suit yourself, you stay right here.' Holding his gaze, I placed my knife between my teeth, jumping to grasp the high branch above my head, I swung my legs to sitting position on top. Climbing higher with the confidence and balance of a panther until he lost sight of me in the trees. I remained there until he left, he didn't. A slow applause echoed through the branches mockingly.'Okay,' he drew out the word laughing, I stayed silent, hoping he thought I left. But he just continue to gaze upwards with his smug grin, he held up his fore finger and thumb. 'You know, you were about this close to making me believe you were deranged? Honestly, I thought I would have to get some sort of treatment if you touched me.' When I didn't answer, he continued to babble on. 'Hey, cave girl, I know you're there.' Cave girl? God this guy was overloading my careful balance of rational thought. Below me, twigs snapped. Did he leave? I sure hope so. I stopped completely still when I heard the rustling of branches and more movement. He wouldn't. Would he?

I was alive, drunk on enjoyment. Drums beat along with my racing heart, they beat with so much passion and honesty it absorbed into my wilting soul, the night sky glowed brighter than the sun as the stars and moon rejoiced along with the people, they danced, each and everyone of them, from the young to the old. They all danced around the large roaring fire with grins on their faces and rhythm in their cores. Feet tapping, hands clapping and drums pounding, it rocked the earth and swayed the barrier of trees surrounding the unknown village. Fireflies hovered around like hundreds of tiny lanterns making that bridge between what I've known all my life and what I've grown to believe was only a fairy tale.
